About

Daniel Colón is a New York-based painter and illustrator whose work moves between landscape, urban space, portraiture, and observational painting. Grounded in close observation, his paintings focus on light, atmosphere, and the emotional character of lived environments.

Working primarily in oil, Colón is drawn to quiet moments where familiar spaces begin to feel psychologically charged or quietly ambiguous. His work often suggests narrative without fully resolving it, balancing direct observation with memory and emotional atmosphere.

He studied painting at The Art Students League of New York and the Maryland Institute College of Art, and also studied art history at Hunter College. He is the recipient of the Xavier Gonzalez and Ethel Edwards Grant.

Alongside his studio practice, Colón has worked extensively as a storyboard artist and illustrator for clients including Apple, National Geographic, Facebook, and Viacom. He is currently represented commercially by Boards in Motion and Wayart and teaches at the New York School of the Arts.
